Yildiz Research Group at ACS Spring 2026 Meeting
Dr. Zehra Irem Yildiz presented at the ACS Spring 2026 Meeting in the session "Food Ingredients: Sustainability and Natural Alternatives" organized by the American Chemical Society – Agricultural & Food Chemistry Division.
Her presentation, titled "Cyclodextrin-Assisted Extraction and Electrospun Biodegradable Nanofibers for the Valorization of Grape Pomace Bioactives" focused on transforming grape pomace, an abundant food industry byproduct, into high-value functional materials.
This study was conducted in the Uyar Research Group at Cornell University. We sincerely thank Prof. Tamer Uyar for welcoming Dr. Yıldız into his laboratory and providing the opportunity to carry out this research. We also gratefully acknowledge TÜBİTAK for its support through the 2219 and 2224-A programs, which contributed to this valuable international research experience and the presentation of the research findings.
The study combines cyclodextrin-assisted extraction with electrospinning technology to improve the extraction efficiency, stability, and functionality of bioactive compounds. The research also introduces fast-dissolving nanofibrous systems with promising applications across the food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic industries.
