The Yıldız Research Group specializes in the design, fabrication, and application of advanced nanomaterials to develop innovative solutions for the food industry. Our research addresses challenges in food packaging, food preservation, food safety, and also extends to the development of functional food supplements and the encapsulation of active ingredients for improved delivery and stability.

Smart and Active Food Packaging Materials
Development of intelligent packaging systems that can monitor food quality, extend shelf life, and improve safety through the incorporation of responsive and bioactive components.

Valorization of Food and Agricultural Waste
Extraction and utilization of high-value compounds (such as polyphenols, anthocyanins, and essential oils) from food and agricultural by-products to create functional and sustainable nanomaterials.

Encapsulation and Controlled Release Systems
Encapsulation of natural bioactives—including antioxidants, antimicrobials, vitamins, and flavors—within nanostructured carriers to enable targeted, sustained, and controlled release for food packaging and supplement applications.
Electrospun Nanofibers
Fabrication of polymeric and polymer-free nanofibers specifically tailored for active food packaging, bioactive compound delivery, and functional food systems.

Cyclodextrin-Based Technologies
Design and application of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes and cyclodextrin-based metal-organic frameworks (CD-MOFs) to improve the solubility, stability, and release behavior of sensitive food-related bioactive compounds.
